James Abney teaches a mix of Hatha Yoga, adding his personal touch. He focuses on the community of the class in an attempt to make it light hearted and yet a serious practice. James has been teaching for 18 years, and his classes fit every level, especially those new to Yoga. $5 or $45 punch card.
Chair Exercise & Yoga
Wednesdays - 10 AM
Chair exercise and Yoga is a 40-minute workout of arms, legs, and a full range of motion. A single lightweight (1-5 lbs) is recommended but not required. James Abney, our Yoga Instructor, will work to strengthen your core, tone your muscles, relax your neck, loosen your shoulders, and get a full body stretch. $5 or $45 punch card.
Beginner Line Dance Class
Mondays - 1-2:15 PM
This class is fun and has easy-to-follow dance steps that promote physical and mental wellness. It is designed to provide the heart health benefits of aerobic exercise while engaging in social activity. No experience is necessary. $5 or $45 punch card.
Thursdays - 3:30 PM
BetteRose welcomes you to participate in this invigorating, gentle class focusing on body awareness and posture. All movement is done sitting or using a chair as support. No need to bring any equipment. $5 or $45 punch card.
Tuesdays & Thursdays - 1 PM
Tai Chi offers a unique form of meditation with low-impact movement. Arlene Wetherby instructs students to increase muscle tone, balance, and flexibility. $5 or $45 punch card.
Beginner Tai Chi
Tuesdays & Thursdays - 2 PM
Tai Chi instructor, Arlene Wetherby, offers a beginner Tai Chi class. If you want to learn about Tai Chi, this class will help get you started. $5 or $45 punch card.
Wednesdays - 10 AM - 12 PM
Terri asks that you meet at the senior center between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. You do not need to sign up for this beforehand. You can call 586-498-2413 with any questions. Free.
Total Body Strength Training
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays - 9 AM
*Beginning April 24, classes will be held Monday-Thursday at the Beach House.
*Starting May 3, classes will change to Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
Miriam offers these classes for seniors ready to challenge their body and practice regularly to improve strength and endurance. Train your upper body on Mondays and Wednesdays with tubing, bands, and weights. Train your lower body and cor on Tuesdays and Thursdays with intermediate standing and wall exercises with optional weights. Daily drop-in is $5 or $45 punch card.
Guided Audio Tape Exercise
Mondays & Fridays - 10 AM
Get moving with a guided audio tape exercise. This free class gets your blood moving and provides many exercises over 30 minutes. Free.
Mondays & Wednesdays - 6 PM
Low-Impact Zumba focuses on easy-to-follow choreography, balance, range of motion, and coordination! You’ll love this class and the atmosphere that instructor Michelle Sand creates. Wednesday classes at the Blossom Heath Beach House include some strength training with Zumba toning sticks. $5 or $45 punch card.
Tuesdays & Thursdays - 9:45 AM
Fridays - 1 PM
Join Carolyn for this all-level workout. Silver Sneakers includes chair and standing exercises. Call your healthcare provider to see if you qualify for this free class. If this class is not covered by your insurance provider, members and non-members may drop in for a $3 fee per class.
Senior Swim - South Like High School
Tuesdays & Thursdays - 3-6 PM

Join us at the South Lake High School pool for a swim. Relax, exercise, and make some new friends! $2 per entry or $20 for 20 entries if you purchase a punch card at the pool or senior center.
Water Exercise - South Like High School
Tuesdays & Thursdays - 3:30-4 PM

James Abney is available to help you by providing exercise training tips and routines. James has been a personal trainer, yoga instructor, and chair exercise instructor for twenty years. Ask him questions, get workout suggestions, and try a training session with him. James is available on an appointment-only basis. Call the senior center to get in touch with him at 586-498-2413. Half-hour sessions are $5 and can be paid for at the office window.
