Used Fire Extinguishers Disposal

...FROM THE SCS FIRE DEPARTMENT: The Fire Department does not accept used or expired fire extinguishers. The recommended practice is to make sure that the pressure is completely relieved in the extinguisher by visualizing that on the gauge. If there is zero pressure in the extinguisher, it can then be placed in the proper recycle bin for steel.

If the extinguisher still has pressure or the resident is unsure if it is pressurized, the extinguishers may be turned in on the next designated City Hazardous Waste & E-Waste Collection Day in May of 2020. 

The Macomb County Health Department is also hosting a Household Hazardous Waste & E-Waste Collection Day on FRIDAY August 23rd from 7:30AM to 12:00PM at the Macomb County Health Department building located at 43525 Elizabeth Road, Mount Clemens, MI 48043.
